Energy consumption and CO2 emissions to double by 2030, according to European Commission study

Brussels, 12/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The world's energy consumption and CO2 emissions could double by 2030 if current world trends and policies remain unchanged. This is the pessimistic forecast of a study that the European Commission is publishing this week: World Energy, Technology and Climate Policy Outlook (WETO). Philippe Busquin, Research Commissioner, considers the study to be "well-timed" in so far as "there is a shortcoming at European level of the level of achievement of goals...
