Greek proposal for harmonised implementation of the principle that no person is to be tried twice for the same act

Brussels, 20/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Greek presidency is proposing a clearer and more harmonised implementation of the principle that no person shall be prosecuted or sentenced for the same punishable act. The draft framework decision suggests a broad definition of the "non bis in idem" principle, which would apply to the same act or to materially similar acts, irrespective of whether or not the act is designated according to the same legal term.
