Poul Nielson calls on combatants to limit suffering among civilians and confirms immediate humanitarian aid of 21 million euros

Brussels, 20/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is prepared immediately to allocate 21 million euros of emergency humanitarian aid to Iraq to alleviate the suffering of war victims, respecting the principles of neutrality and impartiality governing international humanitarian law. Poul Nielson, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, confirmed this to the Press on Thursday following the outbreak of military action against Iraq.
