Brussels, 06/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Ecofin Council will meet on Wednesday 11 December in Brussels in an attempt to obtain a compromise on the "tax package" following the most recent meetings with Switzerland on the subject of savings taxation (see EUROPE yesterday p 12). Presidency efforts will at the same time focus on the reservations expressed by Luxembourg and Austria concerning the tax package, as well as energy taxes blocked by Germany.
