04/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat estimates of 2 December, the volume of retail sales in September fell 2.1% compared to August. This was the largest monthly drop since March 2000, the Statistical Office points out. In annual terms (September 2002/September 2001), sales fell 0.6%. For the Union as a whole (EU15), they fell 1% in September (compared to August) but showed a 0.8% increase in annual terms.
