Will Commission be accountable to the European Council in future?

Brussels, 02/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - As pointed out earlier (see EUROPE of 28 November, p.3), the contribution that the Commission is to present to the EP and the European Convention on Thursday rejects the idea of a long-term President of Europe and takes a stance in favour of keeping the half-yearly Presidency for the European Council and the General Affairs Council, while the presidents of the other Councils would be elected by their colleagues for one year.
