Brussels, 31/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and thirty years of civil sensing by satellite, the Eurisy Association (promotion of educational and information activities on space technology and application in Europe), the International Space University (ISU), the European Space Agency (ESA), NASA and the UNESCO Centre for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage will be organising a conference on the "Application of Satellite sensing for Heritage Protection". This event will take place in Strasbourg on 5-8 November and will be sponsored by the Council of Europe (the President of which, Walter Schwimmer will open the conference). Renowned experts from a variety of disciplines will be coming (archaeology, satellite sensing and heritage protection) from Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and North America and will be speaking about their experience and knowledge. The conference will be divided into three sessions on: 1) the impact of space technologies on natural sites; 2) the impact of space technologies on cultural sites; 3) the potential for education.
