Commission presents its new draft directive on quality of bathing water, more concerned with human health and easier to implement

Brussels, 25/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - Friday, the European Commission presented its new draft directive on the quality of bathing water, intended to replace Directive 76/160/ECC, 26 years old. Expected for a long time now, this new text has as aim to reduce the risk to health of bathing water, modernise bathing water management in the Union and simplify the directive's implementation by Member states.
