Strasbourg, 05/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - Greece, Turkey and Poland signed an agreement on 3 September to join Eurocorps by detaching staff to the Eurocorps headquarters in Strasbourg. A press release points out that similar agreements will be signed with Austria and Finland. Italy will send a liaison officer (the Netherlands and the UK have already sent liaison officers). Together with the five original Eurocorps member nations Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg and Spain, Eurocorps Headquarters will be staffed by 13 European nations. Eurocorps Commanding General, Lieutenant General Holger Kammerhoff said that the process of multinationalism of the former Franco-German brigade would go on: "The door remains open, other nations are still invited to contribute to this unique European headquarters". All EU Member States are members of Eurocorps with the exception of Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal and even two neutral countries, Austria and Finland.
