Romano Prodi and Günter Verheugen postpone visit to Turkey pending more stable political situation

Brussels, 12/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Commission and the Enlargement Commissioner have decided to postpone their visit to Ankara pending a more stable political situation. Romano Prodi and Günter Verheugen were to be in Turkey on 18 and 19 July, but, given the avalanche of resignations within the Turkish government, including that of Foreign Minister Ismail Cem, the visit has been postponed by common accord with the Turkish authorities, explains the European...
