12/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Commissioners Pascal Lamy and Fritz Bolkestein have sent a letter to the US authorities concerning controls carried out by US customs in certain European ports (EUROPE yesterday p 12). The Commissioners have requested that this matter be examined together with the US authorities, while highlighting that EU ports are treated equally so problems impacting on the internal market are avoided.
