Commission releases additional EUR 15 million for Afghanistan - Commissioner Nielson may be in Afghan region early December

Brussels, 16/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - An additional EUR 15 million will be allocated by the European Commission to the populations affected by the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. The financing decision, announced a few days ago (see EUROPE of 14 November, p.14) is a recent one. The funds, to come from the ECHO budget, will finance the activities of NGOs and United Nations agencies in favour of resident populations and internally displaced persons in areas hit by drought, mainly Kabul...
