ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

The telecommunications division of the EADS aeronautical and defence company has bought up the UK's COGENT DEFENSE SYSTEMS, a subsidiary of Canada's NORTEL specialising in military networks and secure systems, with estimated turnover in 2001 of EUR 125 million and a workforce of 400. NORTEL has also sold off its company switchboard division (PABX) which has an annual turnover of EUR 180 million.
