Adoption of re-conversion plan of Spanish and Portuguese fishermen and ship owners

Brussels, 18/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - As EUROPE announced on 16 and 17 July (p.8), the European Commission has adopted a proposal for a regulation providing for the payment of aid to the tune of 197 million euro to contribute to the re-conversion of Spanish and Portuguese vessels and fishermen (186.36 million and 10.64 million, for Spain and Portugal respectively) affected by the non-renewal of the fisheries agreement with Morocco.
