Commission to take France before Court of Justice for non-transposition of gas directive, Commissioner de Palacio announces

Brussels, 07/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The energy Commissioner, Loyol a de Palacio, announced in the French daily Le Monde that the Commission had decided on Tuesday to haul France before the Court of Justice for non-transposition of the directive on the liberalization of the gas market. The Commission opened an infringement procedure against France, Germany and Luxembourg, last December, for not having transposed the directive in force since 10 August 2000.
