Commission could bring case before WTO and reinstate aids to European shipyards

Brussels, 07/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the Commission should decide, over the possibility of bringing the case of South Korean shipyards to Geneva and reinstating aids to European ship yards. EUROPE believes that it will be called upon, by Mr Lamy, Mr Monti and Mr Liikanen, to launch a dispute settlement procedures in the WTO and reinstate the Community aid mechanism to the sector, as of next 30 June, if the case is not resolved before then.
