Commission confirms suspension of financing for projects in Slovakia following "conflict of interest"

Brussels, 26/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Commission confirmed having suspended the payments and the calls for tenders for projects financed by the EU in Slovakia, while awaiting information on the siphoning off of funds. There have been problems and an investigation showed conflicts of interest, stated the spokesperson for the Commission, Jonathan Faull, adding that the Director of the public services responsible for certain dossiers has been dismissed.
