The BANK OF SCOTLAND and Britain's number mortgage lender, the HALIFAX said they were "in negotiations for a possible merger that would take the form of equal shares", or on the basis of one BOS share for one of HALIFAX's. If successful, this rapprochement, will be achieved on the basis of perfect equality between the two partners in the distribution of shares.
