21/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - Heidi Hautala, co-President of the Green/EFA Group in the European Parliament, said that the Group was to propose providing the members of parliament of the candidate countries for EU accession observer status in the EP (which occurred with the parliamentarians of the GDR: Ed.). In particular, the parliamentarians of the applicant countries should be able to participate in EP committee work.
