21/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has appointed Mr Barry McSweeney, European official of Irish nationality aged 50, to the post of Director General of the Joint Research Centre in Ispra, on a proposal by Vice-President Neil Kinnock and in agreement with President Romano Prodi and Philippe Busquin, Commissioner for Research.
