Commission clears two operations

Brussels, 21/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the following operations:

- Acquisition of German group Messer Griesheim (industrial and speciality gases) by the US investment bank Goldman Sachs. The Commission felt the move in no way threatens competition as the parties concerned operate on clearly separate markets.

- Acquisition of American companies MSX International and Delco Remy International by Citicorp Venture Capital. MSX is a provider of services specialised in the automobile sector and Delco Remy produces automobile parts. CVC provides financial services. The Commission concluded that this operation presented no problem for the competitive situation, as the activities of the parties do not overlap.
