British bank ABBEY NATIONAL has announced that it had put an end to the negotiation with BANK OF SCOTLAND with a view to possible merger. The reason gives is the uncertainty generated by LLOYDS TSB which may or may not make a (new) offer for ABBEY NATIONAL later in the year.
