Brussels, 05/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Council has adopted decisions concluding the agreements signed, one on 18 December 2000 during the EU/USA Summit, and the other on 19 December during the EU/Canada Summit. The decisions renew the 1995 agreements establishing a cooperation programme for higher education and vocational training. The programmes mainly aim to: - promote mutual understanding between the peoples concerned; - promote or enhance partnerships among higher education and vocational education and training institutions, professional associations and public authorities; - improve the quality of transatlantic student mobility; - and encourage the exchange of expertise in e-learning and open and distance learning.
