Latest talks between "football world" and Commission continue Monday evening - Appeal from European Council president

Brussels, 05/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, a little before 17h00, the three European Commissioners directly concerned by sports issues (Mr Monti, Ms Reding and Ms Diamantopoulou) began talks with the delegation from the "football world" (headed by the FIFA and UEFA presidents). Discussions are expected to conclude during the evening with the statement that new rules on international transfers of football players are compatible with Community law.
