Commission and EIB funding to focus until 2006 on decongestion of existing networks, pending overall review of priorities

Brussels, 20/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - The upcoming European funding earmarked for trans-European transport networks (TEN) will go, as a priority, to rail transport and to the interconnection of existing networks, it was confirmed by European Transport Commissioner Loyola de Palacio and European Investment Bank President Philippe Maystadt. They were speaking at an EIB seminar, organised last week in Strasbourg, on the financing of TEN.
