Verheugen advises Turkey to avoid over-reacting to French vote on Armenian genocide - Review of legal situation

Brussels, 02/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - A spokesman for the European Commission, when questioned on retaliatory measures decided by Turkey following the vote by the French National Assembly of a resolution recognising the Armenian genocide, said that the Commission was carrying out a detailed examination of the compatibility of such measures "with existing agreements".
