ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) pharmaceuticals

The French group SANOFI-SYNTHELABO has taken the 50% stake held by the Anglo-Swedish firm ASTRAZENECA in their joint-venture ASTRA-AYNTHELABO which they owned 50/50. The cost of the transaction has not been revealed. In 2000, SANOFI-SYNTHELABO had a turnover in Sweden of 31 million euro. For its part, ASTRAZENECA intends taking over a Japanese firm, whose name it has not revealed.
