Brussels, 02/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - In Stockholm on Friday, the European Union and Australia were holding a ministerial meeting devoted, as is the custom since 1997, to bilateral and world issues relating to foreign and security policy. On the agenda of the session, bringing together EU Council President Anna Lindh, European Commissioner Chris Patten and the head of Australian diplomacy Alexander Dower, were, among other things: developments in the situation in Asia, recent developments within the EU, the environment and disarmament. Mr. Dower was also to have talks with the Swedish Minister for Trade, Leif Pagrotsky, on the current moves by the Union and other countries in view of launching a new round of multilateral trade negotiations as soon as possible.
