EP definitively adopts Directives on opening of railways to competition

Brussels, 02/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - In voting, on Thursday, the on the Swoboda (Social Democrat, Austrian) and Jarzembovski (German Christian Democrat) report the European Parliament adopted in third reading the "railways package", which had been the object of an agreement with the Council last 22 November in the framework of the conciliation procedure. The "common draft" Directives organise the opening of the railways to competition in 2003 on a "transeuropean rail freight network"...
