Brussels, 17/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved regional investment aid of £40 million in favour of the Nissan factory in Sunderland (UK), in order to introduce the new "Micra" model. This amount, which should help the British company to transform its plant, will be granted as Regional Selective Assistance. Sunderland is recognised by the Commission as an assisted area, in accordance with the Regional Aid map for the period 2000-2006.
