10/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Executive Committee of the very Eurosceptic People's Socialist Party accepted the Treaty of Nice by a very large majority (35 in favour, 2 against and one abstention), while calling for the convening of a referendum on the subject, even if the new treaty does not lead to further transfers of sovereignty from Denmark to the EU. Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen welcomed this positive attitude, while rejecting the request to hold a referendum.
