Brussels, 12/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission considers that the time has come to launch its plans aimed at transforming the current "total allowable catches" regime (TACs) in the fisheries sector. In its eyes, the current regime does not guarantee the safeguard of fish stocks in Community waters nor does it provide fishermen with guarantees of stability enabling them to plan their activity.
