President Chirac announces direct involvement of European social partners in Spring Summits

Paris, 07/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - At the end of the working lunch on Tuesday, bringing together the European social partners, Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou and French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin (see EUROPE of 2 December, p.15), the President of the French Republic, Jacques Chirac announced that "the social partners will be directly involved in the annual Spring European Councils devoted to economic and social policy, in the framework of the follow-up to the Lisbon Summit".
