ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

FRANCE TELECOM has announced the acquisition of EQUANT, the world leader in data services to companies. After a complex operation, the French operator will become the majority shareholder of the group with 54.3% of the capital for a total of EUR 4.8 billion. The merger of GLOBAL ONE, subsidiary of FRANCE TELECOM, with EQUANT should give rise to a world leader in the global telecommunications services.
