Brussels, 19/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - Meeting in plenary session in Brussels, the European Economic and Social Committee elected as president Germany's Goke Frerischs (employers group), who replaces Ms. Beatrice Rangoni-Machiavelli, whose two-year term of office reached its end. The Committee also elected its new Vice-Presidents: Britain's John Simpson (various interests group) and Italy's Gianni Vinay (workers group).
