Pressing call by Council to Israel and Palestinian Authority - Mr Solana urgently goes to region

Luxembourg, 09/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Monday the General Affairs Council launched a call to the Israeli and Palestinian leaders for an end to the violence. Mr Védrine added that the EU had asked Prime Minister Barak and President Arafat to act in order that the "fears do not brush all aside in their path" and to find the words in order to make their peoples understand that there is no other solution but coexistence.
