ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) insurance

The British bank ABBEY NATIONAL confirmed the acquisition of the insurer SCOTTISH PROVIDENT for GBP 13.8 billion, thus becoming the largest life insurer in the United Kingdom. This transaction increases by GBP 10 billion the total funds managed by ABBEY NATIONAL to GBP 30 billion. See EI of 4 & 5 September.
