The Court has confirmed that the EU does not have to compensate a German company which suffered from the sanctions placed on Iraq

Luxembourg, 21/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Court of Justice has rejected the appeal of the Germany company Dorsch Consult Ingenieurgesellschaft, which had called for the 28 April 1998 judgement of the Court of First Instance to be annulled. In this judgement, the Court rejected the German firm's request for compensation for the economic disadvantage it had been place at following the EU's declaration of sanctions on Iraq in 1990 after it invaded Kuwait.
