The German SALZGITTER concluded an agreement with the German MANNESMANN to acquire its "tubes" activities. Thus SALZGITTER intends to acquire from MANNESMANN 99.3% of its subsidiary MRW - MANNESMANNROEHREN-WERKE AG (consolidated turnover of around EUR 1.73 billion in 1999 with a workforce of 10,000 people). The value of this transaction has not yet been revealed.
