European commission considers that aid granted by Member States is still too high, even though data for 1996-1998 show a decrease

Brussels, 12/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The new European Commission survey on State aid in EU countries confirms, with detailed statistical data, what European Commissioners responsible for the issue (Karel Van Miert previously, now Mario Monti) have often said: levels of aid are still too high.
