Brussels, 24/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised Singapore Airlines to take a 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic Airways which it will control jointly with Barford Services, Virgin's holding company. The Commission observed that the activities of the two airline carriers were largely complementary and that the merger would only have a limited effect on competition.
