Poul Nielson announces long-term aid of EUR 25 million to flood victims, of which 2 Meuros will be immediately available for emergency aid

Brussels, 03/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - During his visit to Mozambique with Portuguese Secretary of State Luis Amado in order to evaluate the needs of the populations affected by the flooding (see EUROPE of 1 March, p.12), European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Poul Nielson, announced EU aid of EUR 25 million to come to the rescue of victims. Out of this amount, to come from the ECHO budget (European Community Humanitarian Aid Office), 2 million will be immediately available for food aid...
