ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) brewing

The Dutch group HEINEKEN (turnover of EUR 7.15 billion in 1999) announced that it was preparing an offer to acquire the brewing activities of the British brewers BASS. BASS's brewing activities, which are also being looked into by the Belgian INTERBREW and the Danish CARLSBERG, are estimated to be worth GBP 1.8 billion.
