Brussels, 04/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The declassification of secret notes of the National Security Agency (NSA) has led to official confirmation of the existence of the Echelon network for the interception of telephone calls, faxes and e-mail throughout the world. These documents were obtained by the American NGO National Security Archives further to a request submitted to US authorities on the basis of the Freedom in Information Act. They reveal even the name "Echelon".
