Prodi, in response to Cossiga, reaffirms renunciation of political "presence" at national level

Brussels, 07/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - Commission President Romano Prodi sent a letter to the directors of the dailies La Vanguardia in Barcelona and La Stampa in Turin in which he expressed the "stupor" he felt when reading an interview by the former president of the Italian Republic, Francesco Cossiga, who reproaches him for having "constantly" intervened in the recent Italian political crisis (Ed.: which saw Mr Cossiga's party leave government) and for having "prepared a list of possible...
