- Poland: TELECOM ITALIA has shown interest in taking a share of the capital in the Polish operator TPSA, being partially privatised, stating that it would take part in the calls for bids once it knew how the sale was to take place. EUROPE recalls that the Polish Treasury launched a new call for bids for TPSA following the rejection, in December, of the bid made by FRANCE TELECOM. See EI of 24 December. - Belgium: according to certain sources from the Belgian Finance Ministry, the sale of shares the State still holds in the telecommunications operator BEGACOM and the airline company SABENA, or 51% in each of the groups, should bring in between 2.5 and 5 bn euro, operations which , moreover should be taking place between 2000 and 2004. Most of the revenue should come from the sale of BELGACOM, for which all options remain open, the stake held in SABENA not being valued at any more than BF 6 bn.
