The German retailer METRO has bought a majority 51% stake from BHS in PRIMUS ONLINE (expected 1999 turnover of between DM 25 and 30 million, with 172 employees), one of the country's largest electronic commerce companies. The cost has not been disclosed but should exceed DM 10 million. BHS retains the remainder of the shares in PRIMUS ONLINE which will now run as a joint-venture between METRO and BHS.
