Vice-President of ECB underlines, a year after its birth, the unquestionable success of the Euro - For a strong Euro, but without a an exchange objective at a given time

Paris, 03/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - Christian Noyer Vice-President of the European Central Bank (ECB) reviewed the situation of the Euro and answered certain observations or criticisms, in an interview with the French Newspaper "Liberation" (gathered by Jean Quatremer). He especially noted:

The success of the Euro. "The variations of the exchange market must be balanced. The ECB has made the European currency whose long-term buying power is guaranteed an intrinsically solid and stable...
