EU Council sanctions six individuals for acts destabilising country

The Council of the EU decided on Monday 15 June to impose restrictive measures on six individuals responsible for acts aimed at destabilising, undermining or threatening the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

They are Alina Juc, coordinator of Ilan Shor’s disinformation network, “aimed at disrupting the September 2025 parliamentary elections”, Irina Vlah, leader of the ‘Inima Moldovei’ party, who actively participated in activities aimed at destabilising democratic processes in Moldova, and Ruslan Garbalî who, at the head of the Vulcănești territorial organisation of the ‘Renaștere’ party, took part in organising demonstrations whose participants were paid.

Iuri Vitneanski, a member of Renaștere, who is actively engaged in “disinformation dissemination activities and alarmist tactics”, and Anton Usov, an activist of the ‘Popular Front - Putin Team’, who infiltrated Moldova’s church structures, co-ordinating a campaign targeting the parliamentary elections, are also subject to measures.

Lastly, Russian national Anton Tregub, who acts as a “Moscow agent of influence” for the ‘Moldova Mare’ political party, excluded from the parliamentary elections for illegal financing and vote-buying, has been sanctioned.

In total, 29 individuals and five entities have been sanctioned.
