15/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission’s Climate Change Committee met on Monday 15 June. Among the items on the agenda was a vote on the Commission implementing regulation to revise the Emissions Trading System (‘ETS’ or EU ETS) on 15 July (see EUROPE 13886/8). The committee was to issue an opinion on the revision of the benchmark values for allocating free allowances for the 2026-2030 period. In addition, the committee planned to present an implementing regulation that would set out detailed eligibility criteria for units to be used under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, CORSIA. No vote is scheduled, but last week 16 airlines requested to be subject to a tax based on CORSIA rather than an ‘ETS’ system extended to non-European flights (see EUROPE 13883/6). (ND)
